Our second stroller is a Maclaren Volo (our main stoller is actually also a Maclaren). It's very lightweight but durable- I think it would be perfect for your nanny's strolls with your baby.

I just did my own research on this subject and came up with three that would work for us. We wanted a lightweight stroller that was a step up from an umbrella stroller. We wanted a few seat positions, easy to fold, small, lightweight, and a few extras (not necessarily a deal breaker).

The first one is the Chicco C6. I liked this one (especially the orange color) and everything, but wanted more seat positions.

The second one is the Zooper Twist. This is the one we bought. We are still waiting for it to arrive so I can't give you a users point of view on it. I'm also looking at a used MacLaren Techno. A mom is selling hers for $75, so this may be too hard to pass up. The Techno is great too because it is lightweight and easy to use.

I love it and it can be carried with one hand and it only weighs 9lbs (8.3 lbs without the seat cushion). … Re Uppababy G-Lite : I love it! It's by far the most stylish one I've seen. At 9lbs, it's ultra light and so easy to use. I can lift it into my trunk or carry it under my arm with ease. The fold is very compact and we leave it standing by our front door. The unlocking mechanism is pretty cool as it's at the handles and you only need to use 2 fingers. The kickstand is the best one I've seen so far and stands way better than my Peg Perego Pliko P3. My daughter is very comfortable in it and even sleeps in it! The canopy can detach yet you don't have to remove it when folded but it also provides great coverage as well. The seat is nicely cushioned and has a removeable seat that you can wash and even go without on a hot summer day. The basket hold quite a bit and is easily accessible from the back/sides. The handles are well cushioned and can bear quite a bit of weight (my huge diaper bag, ergo, and 3 shopping bags were fine on it). The only 2 complaints I have is that the handles seem a touch high so petite people may find it too high and that my daughter looks slightly slouched in the seat but I think that may be the same with all strollers in that class. Otherwise, I can't say enough good things about it. We still like full size stroller with recline for longer trips but I think the G- Lite will be the stroller of choice for most of our outings.

I reccomend the McLaren Volo. It's light and has a strap to throw over your shoulder. Also easy to open.

I would highly recommend the maclaren - i think it's the techno version. Basically, it's the cheapest maclaren stroller (we paid about 100?). It has no frills, but does come with a rain cover. It has the easiest foldup, you can do it one handed, while holding on to the baby. I would stay away from the combi stroller which we also have. That one cannot be folded up with one hand. Our maclaren has been through a number of flights, and now being used for our second son and it's held up very well.

Maclaren Volo. It is my absolute favorite stroller. Has a shoulder strap, light, easy to open with one hand, slim enough to carry on the bus with no problem.

We have a great lightweight stroller, a Combi Citysavvy stroller. It weights very little, folds to a small size and has a shoulder carrying strap. It also reclines. And it's cheaper than the MacLarens. It was perfect for us until I realized that other strollers are better for tall people with long legs.

I saw your post … regarding a lightweight stroller. We recently bought a Britax Esprit, which is just 12 lbs. It's an umbrella stroller that is comparable to the McLarens, but it is much cheaper! I bought it on albeebaby.com for $60, on sale from $100. It's a basic umbrella, but the material is really nice, it's easy to unfold, and super light. The only problem with it is that my husband is tall and the handles aren't adjustable. for me, at 5'5", it's fine. Baby Bargains gives Britax strollers mediocre reviews, but I really like mine.

Strollers: Intro

In searching for a stroller, I was overwhelmed by the huge selection...from travel systems, to lightweight, to jogging, to urban and the list continues.

We don't live in a city so we didn't need an urban-type stroller with inflatable wheels. My cousin-in-law recommended that I get the Kolcraft Universal infant carseat stroller. It is lightweight, easy to fold and store (one-hand folding mechanism) and inexpensive. I loved it. It was so convenient.

Then, when my son moved out of his infant carseat, I was able to physically take him and test drive strollers. We tested many single strollers and I ended up with the McLaren Techno. It's, again, lightweight, one-hand fold and has a maximum weight allowance of 55 lbs (so, I knew I'd have it for a long time). At 3 years old, he still is able to use it, if needed.

Since you will most likely use your stroller for years to come, it is important to think about a stroller that best fits your lifestyle, space limitations and budget.

Lifestyle: If you live in a city, you would most likely want a stroller that has wheels that will cushion the bumps of city sidewalks. Also, if you plan to use public transportation, then think of the stroller's weight and ability to collapse easily. If you live in the 'burbs and plan to do alot of walking, again, a stroller with good suspension is probably a good idea. If you're a runner, then a jogging stroller is best for you.

Space Limitations - Do you have limited space in your home or apartment? Do you have limited space in the trunk of your car? Most strollers fold and can fit in smaller spaces. But, some fold down more than others. So, knowing where you're going to store the stroller and determining the space limitations will help narrow your choices.

Your Budget – Strollers come in a wide price range from the $20 umbrella stroller to the high-end Phil and Ted and Bugaboo strollres. Think of what features are most important to you and purchase accordingly.

Desired Features – Strollers have many features, from pivoting child trays with cup holders, to reclining seats or swivel wheels. You should choose features based on your particular lifestyle. If you are tall and your spouse is short, you may want to consider a stroller with adjustable handlebars. If you are tired of maneuvering your child between the car seat and stroller, it may be more practical to purchase a Travel System.

"I have the Baby Jogger city series and really like it. Are you planning on walking or running? They don't rec it for running b/c of the swivel wheel. I like that it goes through every door and I use it as my regular stroller. The neg is it's a bit heavy but as far as jogging strollrs go I believe it's on the light side (40lbs.)"

"We have a single and double Dreamer Design and I would highly recommendthem. There is tons of storage and it rides very smoothly. They are heavy, but they fold down flat and fit in the back of my car."

"BOB revolution rules! I have only one small complaint--with my baby when she was smaller (6-12 months) i needed to roll up blankets to wedge her so she wouldnt roll about! But i was in australia at the time and i bet that in the US they have some contraption or pillow or something to fit into the stroller for that purpose. Keep in mind, though, that you aren't supposed to use with babies under 6 months. It is a GREAT stroller though. I used it a ton before i got pregnantagain....Just loved it. Very user-friendly!"

"The BOB Revolution is just what you're describing. It's exceedinglymaneuverable, lightweight but sturdy, and yet it does not feel nearly as massive -- or as long -- as others I tried. It works just as well for running errands in town as it does for jogging or walking on trails. I like that the swivel wheel can be locked, but I hardly ever do lock it since the path where I run is winding. It also folds very easily, but is kind of floppy and "unlocked" once folded -- fine for the car trunk, but not the airline baggage claim. The shade is fantastic; it can completely block out the sun if need be. The best thing? The independent shock absorbers. No other jogging stroller has the dual suspension that BOBs have -- it's a very comfortable ride for little ones. The next best thing? We got it at REI during a Labor Day sale and received a whopping 20% off (and Memorial Day is coming!). I had thought we'd go to Buy Buy Baby, but incomprehensibly their coupons seem always to exclude big ticket items like strollers. I did pony up another $50 for the infant car seat adapter, though. But it was worth it; I was out and about with my newborn right away and because of those most excellent shocks he was neither shaken nor stirred!"

"One that meets all of your needs is the BOB Revolution. Superior sun shade, front swivel wheel, good (not great) for jogging (although perfect for 12 or so miles a week....I wouldn't suggest it for serious runners training for big races since it doesn't have a hand break and the front wheel is smaller than the back ones). We own more strollers than I'll ever admit to, but this one is ourfavorite....hands down!"
