"I went to WDW with my 3.5 year old and 1 year old last June and the Animal Kingdom park was a much bigger hit than the Magic Kingdom. It is actually much smaller and easier to manage in about a half day. You can get much closer to the daily parade which I thought was a lot more fun than the parade at the Magic Kingdom and the attractions are great for a 3.5 year old. Granted, there are not a lot of "rides" for little kids there, but the Safari is a lot of fun and so are the other attractions which are more similar to an elaborate zoo. It probably also made a difference that at that time my kids were not really into "princesses" but I thought that the Animal Kingdom park was actually much better than the Magic Kingdom for preschoolers. Oh - and it's very shady, which is nice in the summer in central Florida."

a.. Epcot is really past its wow factor, although the aquarium is cool and updated with nemo stuff.(so if you go there don't miss that) and my personal favorite is the mexico pavilion. the food is good there across from the pavilion facing the water.
b.. great for an evening to capture the laser show and fireworks. We did not do any days there.
c.. Two good starter rides for kids in Epcot that my 4 year old loved - can't remember names but there were never any lines so we could ride over and over - one is in Mexico and the other in Norway
d.. Water fountains at EPCOT (jumping sprays of water - bring a change of clothing - the kids love to run through)

a.. Bugs Life (a little scary for my 5 and 6 year olds, but they just hid their eyes). It is a 3D movie with real effects (water shoots out, bugs poke you in the back, bubbles, etc.).
b.. Safari tour at Animal Kingdom - kids loved this. You get to see elephants, lions, very close. It is a little interactive (the driver makes you believe you are in Africa and there are poachers, so let your kids know it is just pretend).
c.. Lion King Show - When you get in the doors, if you go straight across and sit on that corner to the right or left (near the handicap), that's where they pick kids to participate. Our kids got to roar with the lions, and play the moroccos.
d.. Kali River Rapids - one of the most boring "raft"-type rides I'd been on - but the kids loved it!"

"Magic Kingdom has the most to do with younger kids. The newer Animal Kingdom is neat also, but it's like a big zoo with a few attractions. If you child is into animals, then they may really like it, but if not they may get bored. Half of Epcot is "countries" and will not interest a 2.5 yo at all. I have not been to Epcot for a while, so maybe some things have changed, but a really young kid will probably not find too much interesting there."
