Disney

"I have a 5 and 7 year old and we just did the park and the cruise. We did 2 days at the park and I thought that was enough for us but probably could have added a day. We stuck with Magic Kingdom. We stayed at Polynesian which we liked a lot. It is one of the 3 options on the monorail. Given the short time in park, we decided staying on monorail was critical. I think you can opt for other choices if staying longer. Also, Polynesian had great outdoor/pool facilities. We also didn't need to head with crowds back into park at night for fireworks as there is a magnificent view of fireworks from the Polynesian. ...

Character meals in park were key for us because my girls are so into princesses. Big warning. Book now if this is important to you. It was hell on Earth getting reservations for us as we decided to do the whole trip on the fly. That being said, once I escalated I was able to get it done because Disney is all about customer service. If you plan to stay on resort and NOT have a car, I strongly recommend the meal plan. It works out to less than a la carte. I forget dollar amount but it includes tips, one table served meal (which includes these character meals), one snack (bottled water, ice cream, popcorn, etc.) and one walk up meal (including main course, side and beverage). It definitely worked out to less. This is probably less of a bargain if you have a car and plan to prepare some of your own meals.

I wonder if you are calling something else fastpass. Fastpass is something that is free. For extra crowded rides (and some are targeted to kids your kids' ages = e.g., peter pan), you can grab a fastpass for a time later in the day. This allows you to "cut" in front of line (so to speak) with other fastpassers at the pre-determined time. You can only hold one fast pass at a time so be strategic on this one. You will spend a lot of your time at Fantasyland and a lot of rides should be relatively line free depending on time of year. If it isn't during a major school break, you should be ok. I can't remember name but definitely go to the 3D movie requiring glasses. It is phenomenal. It definitely has Music in the name of it.

We did fine without a car but it does limit you in what you can eat and you are fairly captive to all Disney food all the time (see meal plan above).

Good luck. Biggest advice is to NOT try to do it all. We spent 4 to 5 hours max per day in park and hung out at pool remaining time. It worked well for us."
